Obvously, authenticity is most often more desireable than formulaic superficiality in music. But is it reasonable to expect the effects of an era (such as its art) to be inspired in a different era without reproducing the underlying conditions which produced the original inspiration? I hope not, because I'd love an excuse, such as seeking 1972-ish musical inspiration , to recreate the post-war US economy, abolish the DEA and about 60 other equally worthless, parasitic gov't agencies which didn't exist in 1972, and to take the savings and restore US defense, agriculture, and education spending to 1972 percentages of GDP. We could even go it one better and spend even more on education to make our defense engineering even more perpetually dominant, for example paying teachers as much as cops or firemen. Cutting the US and world population in half to help acomplish this would just be a side benefit for us misanthropists. Mr Azevedo, elect me and I will provide a country that produces country.
