I might the kind of driver you hate – the far right lane which eventually becomes an exit, in my opinion, is to be used to get ahead of the huge lane of a-holes you’re stuck behind. Just pull into the ultra long lane preceding the exit, then, at the last minute, just before you have to exit, give that little friendly hand wave and get the closest guy to you to let you in. Best to start trying to merge 5-10 cars before you’re forced to exit. I know it sucks, but I figure it’s payback for having to live next to the majority of you a-holes.

I’m reading this well after it’s original posting, and felt compelled to comment nonetheless. Having just negotiated my daily route from hell, requiring travel through neighborhoods filled with undoubtedly illegal immigrants in one location, and God help me, Chinatown in another, I arrive clenching my teeth and trying to clamp down on my temper. I agree with each statment, from the cerbral excercise good driving entails, to being smooth, decisive, and above all courteous. Having encountered each point’s polar opposite, I was looking for something that would help me diffsue. Having found it, I thank you-knowing full well that those who would most benefit will never read your posts. One day I’ll get to move out of L.A. and enjoy driving again.

Dude! Excellent article, I have to add, that if your unfortunate enough to be stuck having to make a left turn and there is no left-turn signal we have a two car per green rule in LA. No less, no more. Check the assholes at Wilshire and Vermont for reference.

L.A.asian drivers are just like described here.
This article/blog is awesome. L.A. drivers are very weak, as you say. A few are good. I think a number of us could mop you up at the track though. A few of us practice and don’t drive minivans, Camrys, Accords, and other gay-ass metrosexual SUVs. L.A. is becoming filled with more metrofag SUVs in shiny Christmas colors. Really boring.

The other problem is in the lower income areas of L.A. where latino drivers with poorly maintained vehicles drive with limited skill and maximum macho.

Driving is an abstract process that comes natural to a few, while to others it is a constantly death defying task that requires constant and senseless brake applications.

I didn’t know Californians actually thought they can drive.

I am asian and I know I can outrun anyone of you LA douches around NYC streets or all conditions on mountain roads.

I know this because I’ve seen enough of your transplant counterparts wrecking around CO & WY highways and then causing pile-ups. Or, seeing how pussy you fools drive in the snow or rain.

You are like midwesterns, who can only drive straight freeways and brakes like a bitch on every single curve. Weak.
