All legit criticism Jon. I wrote this during a certain period of time when wine was really helping me through long days at work and long nights of dealing with a particularly difficult significant other. I really do like Chateauneuff, still, but I think this article should be re-written. Thanks for pointing me to it.

Love your site but I hate this article. Judging by the title, I thought this was going to be a satirical piece on people who care about wine enough to give in depth descriptions of them and “highly recommend’ them. Well … it wasn’t and as someone who fights off the urge of becoming a misanthrope this was hard to read.

Now that i’ve complained, i’ll compliment you on the san francisco and raising awareness articles, they were very smart.

Poor thing, never tasted a before 2003 Chateauneuf. I feel for you. Oldest I had was 1984, OH MY GAD!
When I was living in France we had tons of bottles of chateauneuf, we knew a guy who made a great one so we would go directly to the winery. When I got married that’s what we had for dinner.
It spoils your tongue for the rest of them all, especially the beaujolais who now taste like sand more than barnyard (great choice btw)
