"The problem with science is not really what it can explain, but rather what it can’t explain."

Science is a method, not a set of facts. As such, "what we can't explain" is the most fertile ground for science!

"It starts from a faulty premise which is, all things are how they should be now."

Science doesn't start from any such premise. Pundits and policymakers might (see Al Gore), but that's not science.

Furthermore, there is no debate among climatologists over whether global warming is happening. There is some debate over to what degree it is caused by humans, but that's about it.

On to the comments:
"I agree wasting energy is stupid, but for moment imagine how much human energy is being wasted on global warming, which is at best a theory."

Actually, it's not a theory, it's an observation. A theory in science is an explanatory framework, so "global warming is influenced profoundly by human activity" could be a theory, but "global warming is occurring" would not be.
