On global warming, it's safe to say I don't give two shits for 3 reasons.
1) I'll never be around to witness 'the day after tomorrow'.
2)In a few billion years everybody who is living on this planet will be dead, so it's inconsequential.
3) If the damage is done there is probably no way to reverse it.

What people need to realize is that the "experts" who are publishing all of this "information" about "global climate change" stand to gain huge amounts of money from it. Al Gore sits on the board of the *only* company that can sell carbon credits, and since he jumped on the climate change bandwagon, his net worth has grown by something like 5000%. That means he's now worth 50 times what he was in 2002, thanks to his "documentary" and his "selfless environmental work'.

Wow all you people that are so hyped up on this global warming bullshit really are retarded, yes there are scientists that say global warming is happening, there are also many scientists that debate that NO SUCH THING IS FUCKING HAPPENING AT ALL. Yes people impact the environment, there are things like pollution etc. But the Ozone Layer and "Global Warming" are 2 drastically different things, you look at all these people going on about Global Warming when they're total hypocritcal assholes who are merely blowing it out of proportion for financial gain, example: How much money did Al Gore make when he published his piece of shit of a Movie An Inconvenient Truth? or better yet Here's the real Inconvenient Truth, how much electricity and oil and money and all that other bullshit was used to make his movie and then for all the people to go see it, it's like these assholes who buy Clean air credits, get bent you fucking tools. If you really give a shit about the environment as much as you say so, grow your own food, move out of society and shut your fucking face you pompous dickheads, but I guess that'd be too much of a bother for you just to go out of your way to pretend you're better than everyone else you retards, another thing; how come the ice caps on mars shrink and expand all the time? are their alien soccer moms driving around their suvs to take their kids to soccer practice? I don't fucking think so, the earth is changing all the time just like all other planets do, we're a part of it and of course we change it but until you actually do something like invent clean energy for free, please shut the fuck up asshole, global warming is a buisness, a paranoia buisness, just like Y2K and all that other shit, scientists can be paid off, and it's just another aspect of control the government wants in both our lives and that's why it's being backed. I make home made solar panels not because I'm trying to save the environment but so I can get off the grid and stop being fed bullshit by the government and so they can't invent more taxes like the carbon tax to push upon me when they don't even invest in any clear alternatives for people to use, speaking of use...use your fucking brains people this isn't kindergarden class and I can't spoonfeed the conclusion to you idiots everytime.

Nice to know I'm not the only who doesn't buy into this Global Warming hype. Erroneous NASA data aside, how can we make such rock solid generalizations about long term global climate based on so little data? We have perhaps 100 years or so of imperical climate records, the reliability of which probably decreases exponentially the further back you look. On the scale of global history, not even a blink. Beyond that we have only pieces of evidence that may or may not support a theory based on current scientific models and understanding of our environment which we have already admitted is quite limited. At best we can make some statements about local trends on a segment of earth's history and future. But the overall picture is anything but clear. Earth has seen it's most inhospitable conditions when human beings and/or industrialism did not even exist (formation of planet notwithstanding).

Global Warming has always been a concern, something to keep an eye on, but to suddenly start running around and hollering this as indisputable fact is what I have a problem with. I agree that the motivations for this are more political than scientific.

Now, I'll have to pick a bone with this statement from your article:

"It’s funny when it comes to the earth, people think they are just so important that people must be causing it. While that POV is rather misanthropic, I can’t really get behind it. The idea that humans can destroy the earth is presumptuous and paternalistic. The earth will be here long after we’re gone and shows us daily that it has no qualms about chewing us up and spitting us out whenever it fucking feels like it."

This is not necessarily a "we are the center of the universe" delusion scenario. Humans can and do cause damage to our environment to at least some extent. And yes, it is likely that the earth will still be here long after we're extinct but you are missing the point; destroying the world doesn't have to mean blowing the earth to smitherines (although that's not entirely impossible either), it simply means to cause sufficient environmental damage to make the earth inhospitable to human life. That is our "world".

The simple fact of the matter is: we don't know! We make guesses. Educated guesses... sometimes. I'm completely open to the possibility that we may indeed be causing a global warming trend but we simply don't have enough data to make that kind of determination right now. In the meantime, it would be wise to live responsibly and not with total disregard for our earth, but people shouldn't be spreading fear and panic by claiming to know that something WILL happen when they don't really know. Stick to raising awareness, stick to offering possibilities but please don't feed us opinions and tell us it's FACT!
