Nasty Beers Of The World

I’m sitting here having a beer, and it got me thinking about the other night I was at the airport bar at the Bradley International Terminal, at LAX.
This pushy Brit comes up, practically sitting on my lap and orders a Budweiser and a pinot grigio for some broad he was with.
” ‘ello there” he said, all smiles and disgusting breath.
“Hi.” I said.
“I wish we had more of this stuff back home” he said, raising the bottle of Budweiser to his lips greedily, “I really love it”.
“That’s good” I said, “Most people say American beer is crap, but they’re wrong or hippies”.
I don’t think he understood what I was saying so he just left.
You have to keep in mind this guy was practically on my lap so I didn’t really want to talk to him but he brought up a good point: American beer is pretty good.
One thing to note is that in other countries American beer is hard to find and if you can find it, it’s expensive. Ordering a Budweiser in most parts of Europe is like ordering a Heineken here, meaning you’re sort of a fancypants.
Btw, Heineken is one of the foulest beers on the face of the earth. Nobody else will admit this but it’s true. You may now admit it: Let the healing begin.
Which other imported beers are foul? The list below may assist you:
- Beck’s
- Amstel/Amstel Light
- Sapporo
- Boddington’s
- Steinlager
- Newcastle
- Grolsch
- Most dutch beers, for that matter
- Modelo
- Elephant Beer
- Carlsberg
- Bass
- Foster’s
This reminds me also of my worst beer drinking experience ever: a few skunked Grolsches my friend Brian S. and I stole from his dad c. 1994.
Before anyone says that American beer sucks, please have a taste of every variety of ipecac listed above first.

Check out my friends @ CraigsLOL
You want me.
Have to disagree with some of the entries on this list. Bass is bueno, as is Grolsch. Newcastle, too. You’re right on with Foster’s – it’s not a good beer. Amstel is also terrible.
I think your problem with Ducth beers comes from the hops they employ. They are traditionally skunkier, and because they are a lager there’s a definite crispness to them that some folks don’t care for. That being said, I don’t know why you don’t like Newcastle, which is the complete opposite: a sweeter brown ale.
To each his own. Cheers!
You must be an America. Only a country that could elect baseball manager to lead the country and fight a major war could prefer Coors over Sapporo.

i am an american. you must be sort of a nimrod for commenting the same GD thing twice.
american beer does indeed suck. you just dont know your stuff. case in point, budweiser, has its roots in germany and the czech republic. anyways, no serious beer drinkers would agree with you — but im sure a lot of other uninformed americans would.
David- There is a budweiser that is from the Czech republic, not related to the american Budweiser. Do your homework.
Budweiser is an American beer and the best selling beer in the world. Based on that, and the fact that I think it’s delicious, I will proclaim you wrong.
Wrong

There are two types of beer, stout which is real beer and the other stuff. people who drink stout like beer the people that like the other stuff really only like taking a piss. And yes Heineken tastes like cat piss, not that I know what cat piss tastes like but I’ll care to wager its like Heineken!!!
I want to add that I had a heineken the other night and its still the foulest beer on the face of the earth, with amstel light right behind it.
Most of what you have to say is true. There is something to be said for a good, cold American beer, especially on a hot day. But, I prefer Miller Lite to any of the Bud products. Miller Lite seems to have more flavor and better body. Also, Newcastle is an awesome beer. I love a good sweet, malty beer and Newcastle is one of the best.
