As where I do not necessarily agree with socialistic tendencies, you can't say that it never works. It works all over the world. And statistically speaking, they are doing a hell of a lot better than the U.S. in many areas. Less crime, higher rate of literacy, peaceful, and longer life spans. It's possible you watch too much TV. The fact is, socialism is a slippery slope; there exists a fine line between socialism and capitalism - but the fact remains: If what is happening here took place in a socialist country, the same types of blogs, and other forms of dissent would be in as much abundance.

Capitalism brings out the worst, and best in man.

Socialism denies man the freedom to be a greedy slob.

Yeah, and all those granted jobs, education, accommodation and health cover mean nothing. For some people that don't have money to school themselves or buy a house this would be a good alternative. Also Socialistic ideas in Capitalistic systems are commonplace because Socialism is for common folk not the please that are gifted swindlers/thieves. It seems that Cuba and the US are changing roles.
