Strange Bedfellows: Fascist Islam And Their Friends

Was Reading This: Gays In Saudi Arabia Get 7,000 Lashes

Calling it the “War On Terror” at this point is all at once dumb yet fitting. On one hand, Fascist Islam is pretty terrifying, whether it’s blowing up buildings or succeeding in taking over the world.

On the other hand, while that is terrifying, let’s just call it the “War Against Fascist Islam” only because we only think of terror when it’s large scale stuff. The Yemeni girls in North London who get acid thrown in their faces or gang-raped for not wearing burkas or veils or the countless other reports of obscene violations of human rights across the globe in the name of Islam are filed away as isolated incidents. In the same “Oddly Enough” section of the papers as theĀ  Japanese guy who ate 125 hot dogs.

Here’s an article that sorta reiterates what most big picture people already understand about terrorism: that it has nothing to do with US foreign policy. Read: OBL and Co. don’t hate Americans because of what we do, but rather because we aren’t Muslims. And those of us that are Muslims, aren’t good enough Muslims. Tough crowd.

The unhealthy responses to terrorists and militant Islam are about what’s to be expected from victims: laughing it off, pretending it doesn’t exist, or blaming ourselves and/or blaming a scapegoat.

Basically, if you approach a problem asking the wrong questions, the answers don’t matter.

Anyhow, i’m not gonna on about this for too long, but I think the “funny” (not really funny) part of this is that those who think that militant islam isn’t so bad—–the artsy “open-minded” liberal types— should Islamofascism take over the world, will be first against the wall.

  1. Last week on Folsom Street people were playing good money to get publicly lashed.

They get publicly lashed for free?

    Lucky Dogs!

  2. Honestly, I’ve totally lost track of all the terms that are being thrown around these days. Islamofacist, Islamist, Wahabist, Moderate, Traditionalist, Reformist etc. I have no clue what they really mean…and I’m Muslim!

So I was wondering…how do you differentiate between someone who is an “Islamofacist” and an “Islamist” and just a regular, plain old vanilla Muslim?

Also, the situation you described with the Yemeni girls getting acid thrown on them…they’re not the only ones..there’s a worldwide phenomenon of this kind of violence against women and believe me Islam has nothing to do with it. It’s the ignorance and the stubborness of the people (men in particular) and the culture that brings in these outrageous things like gang raping a girl as punishment for her brother’s crime or honor killings for talking to a guy. I seriously wish I could just round them all up and slap some sense into them…ugh.

Ok. I think I’m done taking over your blog now. Thanks. :)

  3. well silly, I don’t see why you would get bogged down on the nomenclature or again, to say that “islam has nothing to do with it” when its very clear that it does.

Again, victim mentality. You’re apart of the problem.

  4. Hmm..how interesting.

I’m not obsessed with nomenclature. It’s more like I’m confused by everyone making up their own words to label different “brands” of Muslims and the stupidity of it all. It’d be nice if someone actually asked a real life Muslim once in a while.

I asked you a question and you didn’t really answer it…how do you differentiate between an Islamist, an Islamofacist, and a Muslim? Or isn’t there any difference?

Also, it’s a little presumptuous of you to assume that I have “victim mentality” and am “apart of the problem” when I haven’t really said anything to indicate my ‘mentality’. All I’m saying is people do crazy things all the time and credit their religion for it, even if religion doesn’t have anything to do with it. Unfortunately, Islam is no different in that. I don’t see how that gives me victim mentality or makes me a part of the problem. Perhaps you could elaborate?

  5. I don’t understand why they all won’t convert to Scientology already! There’s room on the spaceship for everyone, even if they are batshit crazy.

  6. At any rate, its Christianity (Roman catholic Chruch) who is to blame for all of this. I am from Serbia, you know the place that was bombed 1999, a part of the former Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia which is generally separated by religious borders now e.g. Croatia(Catholic), Bosnia(Muslim – many types), Serbia(Orthodox). The Crusaders pushed Islam and Islam fought back. In fact very well, because they managed to conquer Eastern Europe. So if a hatred for infidels exists in the Muslim world I think there is a root course. Anyway Just my 2 cents.
