Unpaid Endorsement: Midphase Customer Service Is The Best

I rescind most of what i’ve written here. I was upgraded to a VPS because I was “getting too much traffic” and its been problems and reboots and bullshit ever since. If midphase is reading this, give me your best server now.

I dont endorse products much, but if you’re in the market for hosting it doesn’t get much better than MidPhase: No nickel and diming for addons, no hidden charges, great interface, no downtime and excellent customer service.

Any time day or night if I have a problem, I go to their website— no login, no BS— and I click on the live chat and tell them my problem and they fix it or give me instructions on how to fix it.

These customer service agents do an excellent job with much aplomb.

   The problem is MidPhase farms out their customer service to a Ukrainian company and the customer service reps speak very poor English so there are communication problems. Stay away.

   No they do not outsource, they have Ukranians in Chicago working at the facility, about 4 of them. Their boss is a fellow named Sergio. They all work for Midphase. I got this from Dan Ushman, who is CEO.
   They do overload their webservers, which is why each hosting account can only have 1 mysql database. Most companies allow unlimited, or at least 10 databases.
   If you are happy with Midphase, that’s great. However, they have had significant datacenter problems. They moved into their own datacenter in a storage facility where power – and all of the servers – went out for several days in 2006. They were not honest with their customers before, during, or after this event. There were a lot of glitches at the new place, and another 2-3 day outage happened when their air conditioning failed.
   The Chicago Better Business Bureau has fielded hundreds of complaints about the company.
