What’s With Obama Talking Like A Black Preacher?
The brother Barack Obama whipped the NAACP crowd into a frenzy in this video with his testifying and “telling it like it is”. Everything he’s saying is pretty good and true but apparently you affect a Georgia accent as soon as you step foot into their building. What’s weird is that when I used to go to this black barber shop near my work and talk in my Baptist preacher voice they told me to leave and almost physically violenced me.
Following Obama’s lead, next time i’ll tell them the threadbare anecdote about how in the good old days if an older person saw a youth messing around they would ‘woop’ them. That one is always a crowd pleaser. Except in reality if some old black guy beat the shit out of your kid you’d probably be really pissed off.
But if you speak in the black preacher voice physical violence against minors seems ok, quaint even.
The following may assist you:

Older White Man With Beard:
I really long for the days when we could beat the shit out of children in public when we saw them doing something wrong. I used to get semi-hard when I saw a group of 3 or 4 children writing on the sidewalk with chalk. Talk about hitting the adolescent ass kicking jackpot!

Older Black Preacher With Hard Boiled Dignity And A Refreshing World Weariness:
Y’all remember back when our community was strong, where if you saw a young man on the street doin’ grafiffi or smoking a reefer you’d woop him right there on the spot! No police, no call his family, you take yo belt off, drop his drawers and give him hell. Amen!”

White dudes don’t whoop on kids for “community”. They do it to practice their sweet Judo moves.
Duh.
black people like karate too stretchy
Are you kidding me? Black people haven’t done karate since the early 70s and that’s a fact.
Today’s African American gentlemen wouldn’t appreciate the need to see a high kick in action like your average cracker-ass would.
It’s pretty frustrating when you see someone be something they’re not. Like Obama playing to the crowd, which is understandable I guess, they’re ‘his people.’ Had he spoken like this to white crowds, would he have been voted president? No way. Will the real Obama please stand up?
Marty, I think whats more important is what it says about black people in America in general that they have to talk in a certain voice or act a certain way or adhere to a certain persona in order to be certifiably “black”. What if the same things were required of white people? Catholics? Jews? Like we all had these fake roles we had to play. Is the stereotypical “black” persona a positive one? If not, then why is the media and implicitly, whites, blamed for keeping these stereotypes alive when it comes from within the community?
I’ll say it again, i’m tired of living in a non-truth based society.
Oprah does it all the time, but, she doesn’t have to answer to anybody. It’s really important that when the President of the United States uses the word “we” that everyone understands that he is talking about “we”, as in “We Americans”, not “we” as opposed to “them”.
I totally agree, TwoDoor. That’s an interesting nickname, I once knew a homeless guy they called “Four Tooth Lou”. He could play a bongo drum like nobody else.
